It’s a great way to introduce a variety of fruits to children, encouraging healthy eating habits from an early age.
Choosing Baby-Friendly Fruits:
You can have fun with this and add whichever fruits you and your little one prefer. When preparing fruit salad for babies, it’s essential to select fruits that are ripe, soft, and easy to mash or cut into tiny, bite-sized pieces. Start with fruits your baby has already tried individually to avoid potential allergic reactions. Avoid hard or small fruits like grapes unless they are peeled, deseeded, and chopped into very small pieces to prevent choking hazards.
For younger babies just starting solids (6 months & up), fruits can be mashed or pureed. For older babies who can handle finger foods, diced or cubed fruits make an excellent option for self-feeding.
How to serve Baby Fruit Salad:
6+ month baby- you can serve as a puree or cut in 2 in lengthwise pieces as big as a finger for baby led-weaning style. For puree option use a small blender or baby blender.
9+ month baby- you can serve in smaller chopped pieces to focus on baby’s pincer grasp.
You can serve this puree immediately or chill in the refrigerator for a little before serving.
