This recipe is for 6 month baby & up
If you are looking for easy, healthy lunch or dinner ideas that is ready within 20 minutes, you have to try these salmon mashed potatoes. When first starting solids, it’s pretty hard to come up with dinner ideas for baby, especially ones they can chew well and enjoy. This recipe is a true savior for that reason. You can make a bigger salmon piece for the whole family and just put some on the side for baby, as well as the potatoes. With its creamy texture and gentle flavors, salmon mashed potatoes are a fantastic way to introduce your baby to the benefits of healthy eating early on. Plus, it’s a meal that can be easily adapted as your baby grows, adding more texture and seasoning as their tastes and eating skills develop.
Salmon is a great fish when starting solids, it’s soft, flaky, low in mercury, and is rich in protein, iron, omega-3, DHA, zinc and Vitamin B12, all very important nutrients for our growing little humans. The mashed potatoes, prepared with a bit of unsalted butter for added creaminess, provide a good source of carbohydrates and energy, making this a perfect, balanced, wholesome meal. This dish promotes brain health, eye health and a healthy immune system.
How to serve:
There are two ways you can serve this dish
- serve mashed or pureed
- you can roll the mashed potatoes into small balls and coat with a little almond flour for a baby-led weaning approach
- Serve the salmon mashed potatoes warm, and make sure they have cooled to a safe temperature before offering them to your baby.
