If you are looking for a tasty, soft, easy to make pancake recipe for your baby these Baby Banana Pancakes are all you need. It is my baby’s first pancake recipe, made with minimal, simple, clean ingredients and is a favorite on the blog. It comes out super soft and is excellent for baby-led weaning (BLW) or those tiny hands, learning how to self feed.

If you want to start transitioning baby from purees to more textured food, this recipe is a good one to start with. I love keeping some of these in the freezer as a quick, back up breakfast, I just heat one up for a few seconds in the microwave, serve along side fruit and I have a full, yummy breakfast that every little one will enjoy.

They are gentle on the tummy, free from any added sugars, sweetened with only ripe bananas. The banana provides potassium, carbohydrates for a good source of energy, while the egg delivers essential protein, choline, Vitamin D and more for healthy growth & development and the oats are a great source of fiber, high in iron, magnesium, B Vitamins & more. These baby banana pancakes are very versatile, you can add your favorite berries, like strawberries or blueberries or for toddlers and older kids you can add some chocolate chips, or leave as is, always being a fun, nutritious way to start your day!

 

Substitutions:

Banana: you can substitute with another sweet fruit like steamed apple or pear

Oats: I don’t recommend replacing the oats with anything else for this recipe

Baking powder: you can omit if you’d like, the pancakes just won’t come out as fluffy

Egg: Can be replaced with plant based egg substitute. For egg free version try my Vegan Banana Pancakes.

Butter: you can substitute with dairy-free butter option or coconut oil

Small blender

Small non-stick pan

  1. Put banana, egg, oats, baking powder in a blender and blend
  1. Heat up pan with a little butter
  1. Add pancake batter and cook your pancakes on low-medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side
  1. Serve along side fruit and yogurt, enjoy!
