This recipe is for 9 month old baby & up
Homemade sweet potato banana baby puffs are a nutritious, delicious, and fun snack option for babies who are beginning their journey with solid foods. These puffs are soft and easy to handle, making them perfect for little hands to grasp, self-feed, while being easy enough to chew. Combining the natural sweetness of bananas with the earthy goodness of sweet potatoes, these baby puffs are packed with essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fiber, all while being free of artificial preservatives or added sugars. This makes them an ideal snack for babies, especially during the teething phase or when transitioning to finger foods. These are great if you are practicing baby-led weaning (BLW), put in your babies lunchboxes for daycare or a fun travel snack!
Sweet potato banana baby puffs are a perfect snack for babies and toddlers, offering a balance of sweet and savory flavors while providing essential nutrients like vitamins, fiber, and potassium. Making them at home is easy, healthy, and allows you to ensure your little one is getting the best quality ingredients. What I love about these is how simple and quick they are to make, all in all taking 15 minutes and they’re ready. They are vegan, allergen friendly, egg-free, nut-free and dairy-free.
TIP:
If you have any leftover sweet potato jars or pouches I encourage you to use them in this recipe. What’s cool is you can use any flavor pouches and it will still come out yummy!
Depending on what puree you are using, some can be thicker than others. Usually puree from a pouch is going to have a smoother more liquid consistency, in that case add more oats to the mixture. Instead of 2/3 cup oats, add 3/4 cup oats.
Substitutions:
Oats: I don’t recommend substituting the oats in this recipe. Try and use instant oats rather than rolled oats, instant oats are thinner in texture, making them easier for baby to chew.
Banana: You can substitute with another sweet fruit, like apple or pear.
Sweet potato puree: I used sweet potato puree from a can, but you can use pumpkin puree, butternut squash puree or a blend.
Avocado oil: Can be replaced with any neutral oil
What you need:
Ziplock or piping bag

I made these and left them on the counter covered with plastic wrap. On the second day they became mushy and sort of melted. Baby did not like the new texture. What did I do wrong? Would storing in the refrigerator instead of the counter help?
