Healthy Apple Loaf

healthy apple loaf pinit

This recipe is for 9 month baby & up

A Healthy Apple Loaf for kids is a fantastic way to combine wholesome ingredients with the comforting flavors of apples and cinnamon. This recipe, made with oat and almond flour, provides a naturally gluten-free, nutrient-dense alternative to traditional baked goods. It’s perfect for breakfast, a lunchbox addition, or a snack that’s both delicious and nourishing. It is extremely flavorful, moist and soft enough for younger babies and toddlers to eat. Made with no refined sugars, sweetened with 100% date syrup. My little one loves eating this as a midday snack, tasty dessert or a healthy breakfast.

For babies still learning to self-feed, the loaf can be baked as mini-muffins or cut into finger-friendly pieces for easy handling. This Healthy Apple Loaf is perfect for baby-led weaning (BLW) or if your little one is practicing how to feed with a fork or spoon.

Why Oat and Almond Flour?
Oat flour is a powerhouse of nutrition, offering fiber that supports healthy digestion and helps kids stay full for longer. It also provides essential vitamins like B-complex and minerals such as iron and magnesium. Almond flour, on the other hand, adds a dose of healthy fats, protein, and vitamin E, which are essential for growing bodies. Together, these flours create a tender texture while keeping the loaf nutrient-rich. Plus, both flours have a natural sweetness and nutty flavor that complements apples perfectly. Combined you get this delicious, moist, healthy apple loaf!

How to make Healthy Apple Loaf?

This recipe is very simple to make! All you have to do is slice your apples, add all your wet ingredients to a bowl with the dry and fold the apples in. Bake and enjoy! It’s that easy!

Can I make the Healthy Apple Loaf into muffins?

Yes you can! If you prefer making this into small loaves or make as muffins, it will work. Cook time will be less than a loaf.

Substitutions:

Apples: Any type of apples will work for this recipe, for example gala, honey crisp, fuji, etc.

Oat flour & almond flour: I haven’t tried playing around with this recipe, but you can opt out of almond and oat flour and replace with about 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour.

Egg: Replace egg with 1 flax egg, add 1 tsp of ground flax with 4 tbsp water and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Avocado oil: Can be substituted with coconut oil or any neutral oil.

Date syrup: Can replace with honey or maple syrup if baby is 12 month & up.

Non-dairy milk: I used almond milk in this recipe, but any non-dairy milk you prefer will work, as well as cow milk.
