Pizza Muffins – A, Mess-Free, Kid-Friendly Snack for 10 Months & Up

There’s something so comforting about a warm, fluffy pizza muffin fresh out of the oven. The moment you pull them apart, you get that soft, airy texture with gooey melted cheese stretching between bites. They have all the flavors of a classic pizza—savory sauce, cheesy goodness, and favorite toppings—all packed into a handheld, mess-free treat, making it a perfect kid lunch idea. I love how easy they are to make, and the fact that they’re naturally portioned means kids can enjoy them without the fuss of slicing or messy toppings falling off. Whether for lunch, snack time, or a quick on-the-go meal, these muffins are a simple yet satisfying way to serve pizza in a fun, bite-sized form.

Why Pizza Muffins Are Great for Kids

Easy to Hold & Eat – Perfect for little hands and soft enough to chew and eat.
Nutrient-Packed – Packed with calcium, protein, healthy carbs and more!
Customizable – Kids can choose their favorite ingredients, making mealtime fun and interactive. My oldest daughter likes to dip hers with marinara sauce. What’s great about these, you can add your favorite toppings like cheese, olives or pepperoni.
Great for Meal Prep – Freezer-friendly and easy to reheat for busy days.
Less Mess, More Fun – All the flavors of pizza in a mess-free, eat to eat muffin.

How to Serve Pizza Muffins

As a Quick Lunch – Pair with a side of fresh fruit or a small salad. For younger babies, cut up in pieces with marinara sauce for dipping to make mealtime exciting.

For a School Snack – Pack them in a lunchbox with a small container of marinara for dipping.

At a Party – Serve with different dipping sauces like ranch or garlic butter.

For Meal Prep – Freeze extras and reheat in the microwave or toaster oven for a fast meal.

Ingredients & Substitutions:

White Spelt Flour- I have been loving this flour for all my baking needs, but if you can’t find it you can substitute with all-purpose, white whole wheat or spelt flour. You can use self-rising flour as well, if you do omit the baking powder.

Shredded Cheese- I used shredded mozzarella, you can use any type of shredded cheese mix you prefer.

Milk- I used cow milk, this can be replaced with non-dairy milk if you prefer. For example almond milk or soy milk.

Eggs- I have not tried to make these yet without the eggs, you can use a plant-based egg alternative.

Marinara Sauce- I used Carbone Marinara Sauce, any marinara sauce or pizza sauce will work in this recipe.

Love this recipe! Is there any way veggies can be added to these?

    • Eating With Zion

Hi Amy, you can add a veggie that doesn’t hold a lot of liquid like a grated carrot. Happy you guys liked the recipe!
