3- Ingredient Cheese Crackers

3-Ingredient Cheese Crackers – Unprocessed, Clean, Kid-Friendly Snack with a Crunch in Every Bite!

My toddler is absolutely obsessed with crackers, if he could, he’d snack on them all day! But after reading the labels on store-bought ones (seriously, some have a million ingredients I can’t even pronounce), I knew I had to make a cleaner, homemade version. These 3-ingredient cheese crackers were the perfect solution! They are simple, wholesome, and made with ingredients I actually trust. I use good-quality organic raw cheddar cheese, and they come out so deliciously crisp and flavorful that I end up eating half the batch myself! The crackers are made with only three basic ingredients, cheese, flour, and butter. No preservatives, no hidden ingredients, and no complicated steps. Just pure, cheesy goodness that both kids and adults will love.

These crackers are perfect for lunchboxes, after-school snacks, or as a crunchy side to soup. They come together in less than 30 minutes and are made entirely from real ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. It’s a healthier alternative to store-bought cheese crackers and you’ll be amazed at how good homemade tastes!

Why You’ll Love These Cheese Crackers:

  • Simple ingredients – made with just cheese, flour, and butter, nothing else!

  • Kid-approved – cheesy, crunchy, and perfect for toddlers and up.

  • Quick and easy – ready in 30 minutes or less from start to finish.

  • Great for lunchboxes – these are great for on the go, a travel snack, picnic snack, school lunch, portable snack that stays crispy.

  • Homemade goodness – skip store-bought versions that are processed, made with a million ingredients and enjoy a clean, wholesome snack.

  • Customizable – add a sprinkle of herbs, garlic powder, or paprika for extra flavor.

Tips for Success:

  • Use cold butter and cold water – this helps create a crisp, flaky texture.

  • Chill the dough – I didn’t have to chill the dough, but if yours comes out too soft or sticky, refrigerate for 15 minutes before rolling.

  • Roll evenly – thin dough makes crisp crackers; thicker dough will yield softer bites, so it really depends on how soft or crispy you and your kids like.

  • Watch the bake time – keep an eye on them in the oven; they can go from golden to burnt quickly.

  • Cool completely – they’ll crisp up as they cool, so don’t skip this step.

  • Store properly – airtight storage is key to keeping them crunchy.

Serve these crackers as a snack on their own, or pair them with:

3.

3.

Put the dough on parchment paper and work the dough for a few seconds, shape it into a square, so it's more together. Start to roll out in between 2 pieces of parchment paper with a rolling pin about ¼ inch thick. Thinner dough will make crispier crackers, thicker will make softer crackers
I didn't have to refrigerate the dough, but if for any reason you see the dough is sticky to work with, put in fridge for 15 minutes.

5.

5.

Slide the parchment paper onto a baking tray. Once it's on the tray seperate the squares so they have space in between each one

6.

6.

Bake for 9-10 minutes until golden
If you made a thicker cracker you might need to add it back in for 2 more minutes, but keep checking because they can burn easily

Notes

Storage instructions- Store cooled crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the fridge for up to a week. For long-term storage, freeze them for up to 2 months, just reheat in the oven for a few minutes to bring back the crunch.

Could I add spinach or something to incorporate some added iron?

I haven’t tried with this recipe, but I don’t see why not. You can blend it into the mixture, it’s a great idea!

Do you grate the cheese first? Can you use store bought shredded? Thanks

    • Eating With Zion

Hi! Yes I recommend grating the cheese yourself for this recipe
