Green Pea Fritters

Green Pea Fritters- (made with just 4 ingredients!) 🌱🧀

Obsessed with this easy, nutritious, baby-friendly meal! These Green Pea Fritters are so insanely delicious, such a great one to add to your baby or toddler’s meal rotation. They’re made with just 4 simple ingredients, come together quickly, and turn out soft, flavorful, and delicious every time.

These fritters can be served starting around 9–10 months old, making them perfect for babies practicing baby-led weaning (BLW) or transitioning to more textured foods. They are soft on the inside, lightly crisp on the outside, and easy for little hands to hold.

One of the best things about this recipe is the natural sweetness of green peas. Peas have a mild, slightly sweet flavor that many babies and toddlers naturally enjoy. When you combine them with cheese, it adds a delicious savory and cheesy flavor that makes these fritters incredibly tasty.

When I served these to my little one, I paired them with my baby-friendly homemade ranch dip, which made mealtime even more fun and engaging. Adding a dip can help introduce new flavors and encourage little ones to explore their food. The combination was such a hit, my little one absolutely gobbled these up.

These fritters are also wonderful because they can be served any time of day. Whether you need a quick breakfast, an easy lunch, or a simple dinner side, they fit perfectly into any meal.

Why Green Peas Are Great for Babies 🥗

Green peas may be small, but they are packed with nutrition that supports growing babies and toddlers.

  • Green Peas – A great source of plant-based protein, fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate, which support growth and digestion. Their natural sweetness makes them very appealing for little eaters.

  • Cheese – Provides protein, calcium, and healthy fats, which are important for bone development and overall growth.

  • Eggs – Helps bind the fritters together while adding extra protein and important nutrients for developing bodies.

Because this recipe uses simple whole ingredients, it’s a wonderful way to introduce nutrient-dense foods to little ones.

Perfect for BLW & Transitioning to Solids 👶

These fritters are a great option for babies learning to eat more independently.

  • They are soft enough for little mouths

  • Easy to hold and self-feed

  • Great for baby-led weaning (BLW)

  • Perfect for babies transitioning from purées to firmer textures

Their small, soft texture makes them easy for babies to manage while still encouraging chewing and motor skill development.

How to Serve 🍽️

These fritters are very versatile and can be served in many ways depending on your child’s age.

For younger babies (9–10 months):

  • Serve whole fritters or cut into strips so babies can easily grab them.

For older babies and toddlers:

  • Cut into small bite-sized pieces for practicing their pincer grasp.

Serve them with fun sides like:

Using a divided plate can make meals more exciting and encourage little ones to explore different foods.

Add substitutions for the flour you can use white spelt flour, all-purpose, gluten free flour, most flours will work here.

Substitutions 🔄

This recipe is very flexible, and you can easily adjust the ingredients depending on what you have at home.

  • Flour: Most flours will work well in this recipe. You can use white spelt flour, all-purpose flour, or gluten-free flour. They all help bind the fritters while keeping them soft and tender.

  • Cheese: If you don’t have the cheese listed in the recipe, you can substitute with cheddar, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or another mild shredded cheese. Use dairy-free shredded cheese to make it dairy-free if needed.

  • Green peas: Frozen peas work perfectly here, but you can also use fresh peas if they’re in season. Just cook them briefly until soft.
