This recipe is for 11 month old baby & up
If you ever feel like you are in a dinner rut, these mini salmon burgers are so easy to prepare and takes about 20 minutes all in all. Soft enough for baby and toddlers to eat and yummy enough for older kids and adults. I love a good, nutritious, family friendly meal that everyone can enjoy together! These bite-sized patties are an excellent way to introduce fish to children, especially if they’re picky eaters or hesitant about trying seafood. With their soft texture, flavorful seasonings, and kid-friendly size, mini salmon burgers are wonderful for baby-led weaning (BLW), they make a great lunch, dinner, or even snack option that’s simple to prepare and loved by all. These burgers are compact, fun to eat, and perfect for little hands, making mealtime more enjoyable and less of a struggle.
Salmon is one of the healthiest types of fish you can offer your kids. It is low in mercury, rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which are vital for brain development and cognitive function, making it a fantastic food for growing kids. Omega-3s also support heart health and reduce inflammation, so including salmon in your child’s diet is beneficial for their overall well-being. In addition to omega-3s, salmon provides high quality protein, essential for muscle development and tissue repair. It’s also a great source of Vitamin D and B12, which play critical roles in bone health and energy production.
How to Serve:
For baby and toddler: Serve in bite sized pieces or whole along side soft raw veggies like cucumbers, tomatoes or avocadoes. Try dipping it in my
Baby-Friendly Tarter Sauce making mealtime fun and engaging.
For adults: Add to a sandwich along with veggies and any condiments you enjoy.
Substitutions:
Salmon: You can use farm raised or wild caught salmon for this recipe. You can use canned salmon, for me personally it's a little fishy, but it will work, only make sure to drain really well.
Rolled Oats: Substitute with breadcrumbs
Egg: You can substitute with 1/4 cup of a starchy veggie puree, for example you can boil or steam white potato or sweet potato, make it into a puree and add to the mix. You can also substitute with flax egg- to make mix 1 tbsp of ground flaxseeds with 2.5 tbsp of water and let it sit for 10 minutes.
