Toddler Tuna Avocado Melt

Toddler Tuna Avocado Melt- a quick, protein-packed lunch🥑🐟🧀

If your kids usually refuse tuna, you have to try it this way. This Toddler Tuna Avocado Melt is one of the only ways my kids actually enjoy tuna, and once I started making it like this, it quickly became a regular in our lunch rotation.

It’s creamy, cheesy, crispy, and incredibly flavorful. The combination of avocado and tuna makes the filling soft and mild, while the melted cheese and toasted bread give it that warm, comforting texture kids love. The result is a sandwich that feels like a treat but is actually packed with nutrients.

This recipe is also quick and easy, which is perfect for busy parents. You can have it ready in just minutes, making it a great option for lunch, dinner, or even a hearty breakfast. Simply mix the tuna and avocado, spread it on sourdough or whole wheat toast, sprinkle cheese on top, and toast it until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

The crispy bread, yummy filling, and melty cheese make this irresistible for both kids and adults.

Substitutions 🔄

This toddler tuna avocado melt is very flexible, and you can easily adjust the ingredients depending on what you have at home or your child’s preferences.

  • Tuna: You can substitute with canned salmon or mashed chickpeas for a different flavor or if you don’t have tuna on hand.

  • Avocado: If you don’t have avocado, you can simply add a little extra mayo or plain yogurt to keep the mixture creamy.

  • Mayo: You can swap mayo with plain Greek yogurt or extra mashed avocado if you want a lighter option.

  • Cheese: Any shredded or sliced cheese works well. Try mozzarella, cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mild cheese blend.

  • Bread: This recipe works great with sourdough, whole wheat bread, sandwich bread, or even a bagel. You can also serve the tuna mixture on crackers or inside a wrap.

Notes

Storage instructions- Refrigerator: Place the tuna avocado mixture in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. When ready to eat, simply spread the mixture onto fresh bread, add cheese, and toast until warm and melted.
Because avocado can naturally brown, you can add a small squeeze of lemon juice to the mixture before storing to help keep it fresh.
