Simple Cherry Tomato Pasta

simple cherry tomato pasta pinit

This recipe is for 8 month baby & up

There’s something so comforting about a bowl of simple Cherry Tomato Pasta, especially when it’s made with love for little ones. The sweetness of the cherry tomatoes, lightly sautéed in olive oil and garlic creates a naturally delicious sauce that’s both nourishing and gentle on tiny tummies. I love how easily this dish comes together for a quick lunch or dinner. It’s a lifesaver on busy days when I want to serve something wholesome without spending hours in the kitchen. This delicious, easy lunch recipe can be served to babies, toddlers, adults and older kids. You can serve it on its own with some grated parmesan on top or pair it with your favorite protein, like shredded chicken, fish, shrimp or keep it vegan and add some tofu. This dish is vegan, allergen-friendly, dairy-free, egg-free and nut-free.

Why Simple Cherry Tomato Pasta?

Cherry tomatoes are an excellent base for a kid-friendly pasta dish. They are naturally sweet, packed with vitamins like C and A, and contain antioxidants such as lycopene. For babies, introducing fresh produce like cherry tomatoes early on encourages healthy eating habits and supports their development. Pairing tomatoes with pasta creates a comforting meal that is gentle on sensitive tummies. When prepared thoughtfully, this dish becomes an ideal option for babies transitioning to solid foods and for older kids who need a quick, nutritious meal.

This recipe is not only flavorful but also perfect for introducing little ones to wholesome ingredients and a love for healthy meals. The dish can be adjusted to suit babies as young as 8 months, making it a family-friendly option for everyone at the table.

Substitutions:

Pasta- I like to use 100% semolina pasta, try and choose a small pasta shape for younger babies so it is easier for them to chew and swallow. You can substitute with any pasta you prefer. For example, whole grain pasta, brown rice pasta, chickpea pasta, etc.

Cherry Tomatoes- Cherry Tomatoes are the star of this dish, known as grape tomatoes. I do not recommend swapping them in this recipe.

Basil- You can use a little dried basil in the sauce, instead of fresh basil leaves.

Olive oil- We love olive oil in our house, I think it pairs really well in this dish, but you can swap with another neutral oil.

Garlic- I don’t recommend swapping the garlic for this recipe, it adds a lot of flavor.
