Air Fryer Kebabs

🍢 Air Fryer Kebabs (Freezer-Friendly Family Meal)

If you’re a busy parent, this is one of the best meal prep hacks I’ve been using for a while now. These air fryer kebabs are incredibly flavorful, juicy, tender, and packed with high-quality protein. The best part? They’re something everyone in the family loves from toddlers to older kids to adults.

This is actually something my mom used to do for our family when I was growing up. She would make a big batch of kebabs and keep them ready in the freezer so dinner could come together quickly on busy days. I remember how convenient it was and how excited we always were when kebabs were on the menu. Now I find myself doing the exact same thing for my own kids, and it makes life so much easier. It’s one of those simple traditions that gets passed down, and it still works just as well today.

I like to make a big batch at once (about 25–26 kebabs) and store them uncooked in the freezer. When you’re ready to eat, simply pull out a few and cook them straight from frozen in the air fryer. In about 10–12 minutes, you have delicious homemade kebabs ready to serve.

It’s one of those simple recipes that makes weeknight dinners so much easier while still giving your family clean, nourishing, homemade food.

🥙 How to Serve

These kebabs are incredibly versatile and pair well with so many different sides.

Some of my favorite ways to serve them:

  • With tomatoes and cucumbers on the side

  • Alongside hummus for dipping

  • With a fresh chopped salad

  • Over rice or couscous

My personal favorite way to eat them is in a warm pita. I add:

  • A generous spread of hummus or tahini

  • The juicy kebabs

  • Chopped cucumbers and tomatoes

It’s fresh, flavorful, and honestly so incredibly good.

👶 For Younger Kids

For toddlers and younger eaters, you can serve the kebabs in a divided plate to make the meal simple and approachable.

  • Cut the kebabs into small, bite-sized pieces

  • Add a small portion of yogurt dip or hummus for dipping

  • Include fresh veggies of choice like cucumbers or tomatoes on the side

This makes a balanced plate with protein, healthy fats, and fresh vegetables, while keeping everything easy for little hands to pick up and enjoy. 🍢🥒🍅

❓ Can You Make These Kebabs in the Oven?

Yes, absolutely! If you don’t have an air fryer or prefer using the oven, these kebabs cook beautifully there as well.

Simply place the kebabs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F until fully cooked through. They will need a few extra minutes compared to the air fryer, usually around 15–18 minutes, depending on their size and your oven.

You can also broil them for the last 1–2 minutes if you want a little extra browning on the outside.

Ingredients

Adjust Servings
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 lb. ground lamb
1 grated onion
1/4 cup olive oil
seasonings of choice (you can use salt, pepper or I also add cumin, paprika, turmeric)

Directions

1.

1.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb, olive oil, onion, seasonings and mix very well until fully incorporated
Tip: Make sure the onion is very finely grated. This helps it blend into the mixture so kids won’t notice it while also adding incredible moisture and flavor to the kebabs.

3.

The secret to this recipe is how you store the kebabs so they don’t stick together. Here’s the method that works perfectly every time: 1.Take a large Tupperware container or disposable aluminum pan. 2.Line the bottom with parchment paper. 3.Place the shaped kebabs one by one in a single layer. 4.Once the container fills, place another sheet of parchment paper on top. 5.Add another layer of kebabs. 6.Repeat until the container is full. 7.Close the container and place it in the freezer.
The next day, once the kebabs are fully frozen, you can leave them in the container or transfer them to a ziplock bag. At that point they won’t stick together, making it easy to grab just a few at a time.
