Banana Yogurt Slice

🍌 Banana Yogurt Slice for Baby- 8 months & up

When you’re feeding babies and toddlers, simple recipes are often the ones you make over and over again. This Banana Yogurt Slice for baby is one of those recipes in our home because it’s made with just a handful of wholesome ingredients, comes together in minutes, and bakes into the softest little slices that are perfect for tiny hands.

I love recipes like this because they don’t need any fancy ingredients. Just ripe bananas, yogurt, eggs, flour, and a little cinnamon come together to create a naturally sweet, moist slice that’s soft enough for little ones learning to chew. It’s one of those breakfast or snacks you can feel good about serving because it’s made with simple, nourishing ingredients and doesn’t rely on added sugars.

Whether you’re practicing baby-led weaning (BLW), introducing finger foods, or simply looking for a healthy homemade snack, this banana yogurt slice is a wonderful option for babies and toddlers alike, plus they really really enjoy eating it!

❤️ Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This banana yogurt slice is:

  • Perfect for babies and toddlers
  • Soft and easy to chew
  • Great for baby-led weaning (BLW)
  • Made with simple ingredients
  • Naturally sweetened with ripe bananas
  • Great for meal prep
  • Easy to freeze
  • Family-friendly

The texture is incredibly soft and moist, making it ideal for little ones who are still developing their chewing skills while learning to self-feed.

🍌 Nutritious Ingredients

Every ingredient in this recipe adds something beneficial for growing little bodies.

Bananas
Ripe bananas naturally sweeten the slice while providing potassium, vitamin B6, and fiber. They also help keep the loaf wonderfully moist.

Yogurt
Yogurt adds protein, calcium, and healthy fats while creating an incredibly tender texture. Full-fat yogurt is a wonderful choice for young children because healthy fats support growth and brain development.

Eggs
Eggs provide high-quality protein, healthy fats, and choline, an important nutrient that supports brain development.

Flour
Flour gives the slice structure while providing carbohydrates for energy.

Cinnamon
A touch of cinnamon adds warm flavor without the need for added sugar.

👶 Perfect for BLW & Self-Feeding

One of my favorite things about this recipe is how easy it is for little hands to hold.

After baking the batter in a loaf pan, simply slice it into strips or small rectangles depending on your baby’s age and feeding stage.

The slices are soft enough to gum, chew, and safely practice self-feeding while still holding together well.

🍽️ Ways to Serve

This banana yogurt slice is incredibly versatile and works for:

  • Breakfast
  • Morning snack
  • Afternoon snack
  • Lunchboxes
  • On-the-go snacks
  • Healthy dessert

Serve it on its own or alongside fresh fruit, nut butter (age appropriate) or a drizzle of maple syrup for older kids.

🔄 Substitutions

This banana yogurt slice for baby is easy to customize with a few simple swaps:

  • Bananas: Very ripe bananas work best for natural sweetness and moisture. If needed, you can substitute with shredded apple.
  • Yogurt: Full-fat plain yogurt is recommended, but Greek yogurt, dairy-free yogurt, or coconut yogurt all work well.
  • Eggs: I haven’t tried substituting the eggs in this recipe yet.
  • Flour: White spelt flour, all-purpose flour, or oat flour can all be used, with oat flour I recommend putting about 3 tbsp more.
  • Cinnamon: Omit if preferred
