Ingredients

Adjust Servings
3 chicken leg quarters (skin and bones on)
1 onion
2 carrots
2 celery
1 tsp salt (omit for younger babies)
1/2-1 tsp turmeric (depending how much you like)
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 1/2-3 quarts water

For broth I like to wash my chicken (some people don't like to do this) but I think it's necessary since you will be drinking the water and cut all your veggies. Leave the onion whole. Bring water in a pot to a boil.

When boiling add salt, pepper, turmeric and the chicken. Cover on medium heat

After 20 minutes add onion, carrot, celery, cover and continue to cook for the remaining time
Skim the top from any impurities

Once ready remove onion and chicken. Don't throw out the chicken you can debone it and make a meal out of it

Once cooled strain the broth into containers of choice and store in fridge or freezer

Notes

Storage instructions- Refrigerator: Let the broth cool completely, then store in an airtight container or glass jar in the fridge for up to 4 days. A layer of collagen may form on top once chilled—this is normal and a good sign.
Freezer: Freeze broth in freezer-safe containers, silicone molds, or ice cube trays for up to 2 months. Once frozen, transfer cubes to a freezer bag for easy portioning.
Reheating: Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave until warmed through. Stir well, as the gelatin will liquefy once heated.
