Ingredients

Adjust Servings
3/4 cup green lentils
3-4 garlic cloves
2 gold potatoes
1 carrot
1 celery
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp turmeric
pinch of black pepper
1/2-1 tsp salt (omit for under 12 months)
3 cups water or vegetable broth
1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Directions

Prep and cut everything beforehand for smoother cooking- Soak lentils with water in a bowl for 10 minutes, peel and cut potatoes, carrots, celery and garlic

To a heated pot add olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, turmeric, cumin and sauté for a minute to bring out the flavors

Add carrots, celery, potatoes, lentils, water or broth and mix

Bring to a boil and cover on medium heat for 30 minutes
Check throughout cook time to see if you need to add more liquid. I didn't have to but this can vary depending on stovetop and pot being used.

Slightly cool and serve! For younger babies, blend until smooth. For older babies or toddlers, lightly mash with a fork but leave some small pieces for texture. Serve with a side of bread or over rice & enjoy!

Notes

Storage Instructions- Fridge: Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Freezer: Portion into baby-safe containers or silicone trays and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat and thin with water as needed before serving.
